Como almacenamiento, utiliza tarjetas propietarias de 4, 8, 16 y 32 gb (el modelo de 32 gb aún no ha salido a la venta en Europa, solo en Japón). Diferentes pruebas realizadas por diferentes webs han demostrado que cuanto mas grande la tarjeta mejor velocidades de lectura y escritura, pero vamos, que no llegan a la velocidad de transferencia de datos de una MicroSD series 10 por ejemplo.
Los juegos vienen en un pequeño cartucho de características similares a los cartuchos que llevamos años usando en las portátiles de nintendo. Esto tiene como lado positivo que consumirá mucha menos energía de la consola que por ejemplo el UMD de la PSP, nos podremos olvidar también de los problemas con la lente o la tapa del mismo que mucha gente tuvo en la PSP (no en mi caso la verdad). También nos permitirá llevar mas juegos en nuestros viajes, dado su pequeño tamaño. Además, supuestamente, dejarán entre un 5% y un 10% libre para salvar las partidas de los juegos que incluyen. Lo que todavía no he averiguado es la capacidad máxima que llegan a tener estos cartuchos, supongo que variará de juego a juego, pero no he averiguado los rangos, si alguien consigue este dato, por favor que lo postee para que pueda actualizar la información!.
